Drum is all about polite dinner jazz, with a slight groove owing to the bland persistence of MacDonald's congas. Reference the tamest moments of the CTI catalog (of whom many alumni, including Grover Washington, Bob James and Patti Austin make an appearance here) and you'll know what to expect. Best moment is "Jam on the Groove", with its wildly funky Moog solo and percussive breakdown-- too bad it ain't sustained. Nope, outside of sampling appeal, this one's better left in the bins. [DW]

drum is very good polite dinner jazz,

but you've got the 17 minutes long afro-drum suite : The Path, on the same titled album of 1977 !!!

Overrated indeed, though each of his lp's has a sampleable moment.
