Scrub the Laurie Anderson Comparison, it was a lazy one of mine. I've now got 'Midnight Rain' and 'Future Talk' neither has quite the grit and vigour of her forst Arista side but both are definitely worth searching out. 'Cuckoo's nest' from Midnight rain is of particular note. A beautifully arranged ten minute Michael Urbaniak composition with wonderfully tight musicianship and an amazing lightness of touch. It simultaneously puts me in mind of Minnie Ripperton and the current work of italian 'Nu-Jazz' stylists like Nicola Conti. Steve Gadd plays with (predictable) precision.

Kind of like a european Laurie Aderson singing scat. I only have 'Urszula' and it certainly has it's moments. 'Funk rings' sounds almost like post punk. Reputed to have a 5 octave voice this Intriguing Polish vocalist would manipulate her vocalisations as well as accompany herself on electronic keyboards and percussion. Accompanied by very tight musicians on this session of singular compositions.
